Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20th 1964) was an American lawyer, politician and vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female elected vice president and also holds the title of highest-ranking female officer in American history. She is a member of Congress and a former US senator who represents California. Born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Then she was recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was appointed the San Francisco district attorney. In 2010 Harris was appointed Attorney General of California. She was reelected in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez during the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be senator in the United States Senate. Harris was a senator and was a vocal advocate for reforms to healthcare and federal cannabis de-scheduling. She also advocated for a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrant immigrants and the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons as well as progressive tax reform. In the news, attention was paid to her sharp questioning of Trump administration officials at Senate sessions. This included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual misconduct.
